The final of this year’s Dancing on Ice takes place this Sunday, and leading odds comparison site Oddschecker.com has taken a look back through the competition to reveal an ongoing battle of the soaps.
Two of the three finalists, Emmerdale’s Matthew Wolfenden and Hollyoaks’ Jorgie Porter, are the only contestants to have topped the bookmakers’ leaderboard during the competition. They will be joined by former X Factor contestant Chico Slimlani in the final.
Current favourite Wolfenden, 31, who started the competition a short priced 6/1, has been heavily backed throughout and after impressing in the first show, was installed as the early bookmakers favourite. A series of dazzling displays since have seen him sail into the final, and the best price across Oddschecker’s panel of 22 bookmakers is currently 8/13.
However, Sunday’s final is decided by the public and Jorgie Porter appears to be gathering support. With over 1,700 twitter mentions in the last week, compared to 512 for Wolfenden, the Hollyoaks star is expected to receive a big backing at the weekend.*
Porter enters the final as second favourite at 2/1 with a number of bookmakers, having started out at 16/1 before the first live show. Her peak came in the Valentines Show in week six when she won acclaim for her performances in the slow, emotive skates and was backed into 8/11 favourite. With Sunday’s final set to feature another slow skate dance, Porter has another opportunity to shine.
Chico Slimlani is the big priced outsider in the final, at 7/1 with Boylesports, to cause an upset and take the crown.
